Adopting Older Dogs

4/17/14 1:36 PM

Older dogs are often overlooked at animal shelters. People see the adorable puppies and want to get one! Which is great, and totally understandable. But, for some people, adopting an older dog can be a great option! Older dogs are a little more predictable because by the time you adopt them, they have outgrown their puppy stage and are who they will be for the duration of their life. They also come with a wisdom and experience that puppies don't. This can be great for some people looking to adopt. For one, older dogs are better at reading humans and they are less eager, this can make training them easier for you! The bond can be instantaneous too! Older dogs settle in quickly and are appreciative of their new forever home. This lifestyle may be a little easier for some owners too, it allows them to live a more normal existence than would be doable if they had a puppy.

Leash Laws

2/26/14 10:05 AM

Are you confused by leash laws? You’re not the only one! Leash laws vary by state, as well as by municipality. Some states require dogs to be on a leash at all times, others are more lenient and still others only require certain breeds to be on leashes. Some laws dictate the length of the leash, others the type of leash. No wonder we are all confused! But, the bottom line is, leash laws are there to protect you and your pooch and hopefully accidents are avoided when the laws are obeyed. They also protect dog owners and non-owners alike. Even though most dogs don’t mean any harm by jumping on others (they’re just excited!) there is still the possibility that an injury can occur, which isn’t good for anyone involved.

Hi fans! It has been a crazy couple of weeks getting caught up after SuperZoo! The show went really well, and in case you missed it, we launched our NEW product the Pocket LeashLocket! We have taken all the fabulous features from our original LeashLocket and made it truly pocket-sized. The leash is still nearly 6 feet long and holds dogs up to 55 lbs. The difference is that there isn’t a magnet, so all of our fans with really small dogs can enjoy the safety, convenience and size of the original without the magnet feature! It’s time to put down the big and bulky retractable leash and pick up the sleek and sturdy Pocket LeashLocket! Check out our video. We are also part of Walmart’s Get in on the Shelf competition; we would love it if you could vote for us!
